My First $100 Day – Here’s the Secret

Benjamin-Franklin-U.S.-$100-billWhen I started on this internet marketing journey, I had big dreams of it becoming a business that would provide enough ongoing income for me to enjoy my current lifestyle and grow my wealth. I saw it as a way of replacing my present income stream and providing a true mobile business that I could run from anywhere in the world.

Now this is still my dream and I’m determined to get there, but there is no magic button to instantly make it happen.

I’ve been in business long enough to know that I have to start at a point and set up little goals that I can attain relatively quickly. This provides me the opportunity to achieve little wins which increase my excitement and motivation to forge ahead towards those bigger goals and dreams.

So my first goal was to simply make money online. Any amount was fine. A single dollar would have been enough reason to ‘pop the champaigne’. I was blessed to achieve this goal only 3 days after setting everything up. It was only $7, but it was a BIG win.

My next goal was to earn $100 online in a single day. One of my future goals is to consistently earn $100 a day, but for now, just earning $100 in a single day would be awesome.

I achieved this goal yesterday! …Goofy ear-to-ear smile…jumping off the couch…bent leg cartwheel…sudden back pain…and that’s probably enough excitement for one day!

I know $100 isn’t financial freedom, but it certainly is enough to get me super excited about the fact that what I’m doing is producing results and has the potential to grow into something big. Did I mention that it’s only been about 3 weeks since I achieved my first goal of earning a single dollar online?

Now if you’ve followed my progress for a while, then you know that I’m not sharing this success to boast. So why am I sharing it? I thought some of you would benefit from knowing the secret to achieving a ‘$100 day’…. or perhaps I should say, ‘my’ secret to achieving a ‘$100 day’. If that’s you then here goes… Continue reading

Yay! I made money online. Now You can benefit!

man-throwing-moneyWhat an awesome feeling! I set up this blog (or ‘reinstated’ it to be more accurate) a little over a month ago. My aim was to use it as a platform to launch my online marketing business.

I’ll be honest and say that I had mixed feelings when I set out. I followed a good course and saw how the course owner had started out the same way and made money from the blog he started, without claiming to be anything more than he was. This appealed to me beacause I didn’t want to pretend to be anything more than I am, and it made sense to me that if I tried and actually succeeded to make some money online, I would have something of value to offer others that have never earned money online before. The ‘mixed feelings’ element came from the fact that I had made myself vulnerable by being honest about the fact that I was starting from nothing with the intention and determination to do all I could to make a success. So, what if I wasn’t successful? That would be a public failure and would leave me feeling a little more than embarrassed.

So you can imagine just how excited I was when I earned my first money online as a result of this blog. What made it even more exciting was that I earned it only 3 days after having everything set up. How awesome is that! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not blowing my own horn. There is nothing special about my abilities. I just followed a tried and tested method and it’s paying off.

Now the formula is really simple: Continue reading

Done! …By The Skin of My Teeth!

man-with-check-sign-02-leftStarting up my Internet Marketing business has been adventurous to say the least. I’ve really enjoyed setting up my blog and implementing the practical steps to ensure that my business is set up for success.

Like all adventures, this one as had its fun times and also its fair share of challenges.

My biggest challenge had to be setting up a subscriber opt-in Form and offering a free gift to encourage people to subscribe to my list.

It’s not so much that setting up an opt-in form was challenging. With the right tools it’s pretty easy. What was challenging was: Continue reading

Falling Behind

marathon yellowEvery once in a while my romantic idea of speeding ahead in my new online marketing venture gets brought to a frustrating decelaration as I get caught up in the ‘peak traffic’ of life offline.

The demands of my business and life in general leave less time to spend building my internet marketing business than I would like. There are things that I set out to do this week that I haven’t even managed to touch on. Things that I would like to have finished by tomorrow.

I’m falling behind! Not a good feeling.

I may fall behind, but I’m determined to continue running this race, even if it means slowing down to a walk once in a while.

I know that you have your personal challenges that stare you in the face too. Whatever it is, may it not weigh you down as you remain determined in your own heart to continue on the path you have chosen.

Alrighty then, I have some work to do and it’s not going to get done while I ‘air’ my frustrations.

May you be continually blessed in your endevours.

…and if you’re experiencing your own frustrations, feel free to ‘air’ it in the comments section below. It really does help getting it out.  🙂

Shameless Truth – My personal motivation for participating in the Quick Start Challenge

This video reveals my personal motivation for participating in the Quick Start Challenge. Contrary to what you may be thinking, my chief motivation is not the need to earn extra money or even the desire to quite a job or wanting flexibility of time for that matter.

I recorded the video outside, so the wind blows into the mic once or twice, but I wanted to show you a bit of the beauty of Cape Town -worth seeing.

And just in case you find it a little difficult to hear the words through my accent, I’ve added captions.

I’d love to hear your feedback. Please leave your comments below.

3 Years Later…

Time FliesHow time flies!

It’s rather embarrassing to think that it has been 3 years almost to the day since my first and only post on this site.  But this is a new beginning and I have every intention of giving this blog the time it deserves, and hopefully in the process, adding value to you.

So let’s start with an update of what has happened over the past 2 years.

I decided to try my hand at SEO (search engine optimization) about 2 years ago.  I got an old client and friend to agree to allow me to try optimize their property website for the local keyword  ‘houses for sale in Mitchells Plain’ (the area in which that they sell properties).  The agreement was that I would do all the upfront work for free at my risk. If I got it right to get them to page 1 of Google, they would then pay me a monthly management fee for as long as I kept them there (initial 1 yr agreement).

I came so close to giving up at least 5 times while trying to get them optimised. It was in the time that Google released the Penguin and Panda algorithms and I new just enough to make one mistake after the next.

It took about 8 months before I got the site ranking on page 1, but I got it there and have since managed to rank it for ‘houses for sale in Cape Town’ which is a far more competitive keyword. It has ranked in position 1 of page 1 of Google for this keyword for over a year now. Continue reading

Confessions of an Online ‘Doubting Thomas’

My first curiosity towards Internet Marketing was birthed out of a desperate need to earn some extra money (to put it mildly)

I was optimistically skeptical and wandered through a search engine, discovering one unbelievable opportunity after another.  When I say unbelievable, I do not simply mean that they were incredible opportunities. I mean that I didn’t believe that these opportunities were real.  Looking back, I’m still convinced that many were scams.

Overwhelmed with all the information and doubtful of a true opportunity to make money online, I stopped looking and continued my struggle to make ends meet in the tangible world I live in.

A few years on and my curiosity once again got the better of me.  Yes, times were tough again and I was looking for an escape.  What a better place to escape to than cyberspace.

My quest was a little more focused now and I started to see opportunities that looked like they actually made sense.  Like most people that start out, I downloaded every freebie I could find, but my skepticism kept me far away from pushing any ‘Buy now’ buttons.  So I dedicated myself to learning what I needed to know about internet marketing from my ever-growing collection of freebies and it wasn’t long before I successfully struck…wait for it… information overload again.
